Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions is teaming with "TV Funhouse" creator Robert Smigel for "Animals," an animated comedy that's been sold to Fox, says Variety.

Sandler's company is partnering with 20th Century Fox TV on the half-hour show, one of two projects just sold by 20th. Latter studio also has set up laffer "Genius Bar" at CBS, written by Josh Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia.

"Animals" will be a parody of suburban life, with critters filling in for humans. Smigel and Greg Cohen ("King of the Hill") will write and executive produce.

As for the CBS comedy, Sternin and Ventimilia ("That '70s Show," Mr. Woodcock) will write and executive produce "Genius Bar," with Krish Menon also onboard as executive producer.

The multi-camera half-hour show will be a sort of "Romeo and Juliet" story, set in a mall and revolving around employees at the Apple Store and an Abercrombie & Fitch-type clothing store.
