Call him Unlucky Louie.

HBO announced they are not renewing Lucky Louie, the Sunday night half-hour comedy from comedian Louie C.K.

Louie followed the misadventures of Louie, playing himself as a shlumpy auto mechanic, and his fictional TV family, which included Kelly Gould as daughter Lucy and Pamela Adlon as long-suffering wife Kim. The show was HBO's first half-hour, multicamera sitcom shot in front of a live--and highly amused--studio audience.

The series was met with critical scorn when it premiered, with the Dallas Morning Herald calling it "repulsive." The show averaged 4 million weekly viewers, including the reruns that HBO aired following the Sunday episode premieres.

"Louie is an incredible talent and a wonderful partner," said HBO Entertainment president Carolyn Strauss in a statement. "We loved trying our first multicamera show with him, and we look forward to other projects with Louie in the future."

Louie C.K. co-executive-produced the WB's Cedric the Entertainer sketch show, and helmed the 2001 film Pootie Tang.
