News > "Friday Night Lights" renewed

May 11, 2007

NBC has granted the football drama "Friday Night Lights" a second season, says . The show, which averaged the low rating of 6 million viewers a week, was a critical success, which must've helped the show's pickup.  But NBC's new "mantra" apparently is '"first be best, then be first,"' so there you have it. I didn't know "The Real Wedding Crashers" was "best," but what do I know?

The new hourlong dramas "The Bionic Woman," "Chuck," Journeyman" and "Life" were also picked up. "The Bionic Woman" is a remake of the 70s series, "Chuck" is a dramedy about a spy, "Journeyman" is a "Quantum Leap" rip off and "Life" is about a guy who was a cop...who went to jail...and then becomes a cop again.

No comedy pilots have been picked up yet.
