In the latest case of reality mirroring fiction, "CSI: Miami" became the second CBS procedural to experience a genuine corpse in last than a week.
According to the Miami Herald, a dead body washed up next to the second unit crew of CBS' popular drama on Friday (Sept. 15). The "floater" made its cameo appearance just three days after a mummified body was found in Los Angeles building where "CSI: New York" was filming. If this keeps up, the crew of original-flavor "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is going to get jealous in a hurry.
"CSI: Miami" was using Miami's Bicentennial Park as a helicopter staging ground. A homeless man told one of the show's security guards (a real-life Miami cop) about the corpse, which was face-down at the water's edge.
As of Friday, the body's identity had not been revealed to the press, nor had a cause of death.
"Unfortunately, it's not unusual during certain times of the year that people who have fallen in the bay, either homeless or people who were asleep or in some cases boaters who had a mishap, fall into the bay and turn up days later," Miami Detective Delrish Moss tells the Herald.
The paper is quick to note that while "CSI: Miami" star David Caruso was not on set, his stunt double was.
"CSI: Miami" just happens to be premiering on Monday (Sept. 18) night.
