USA Network has given the go-ahead for 12 episodes of 'To Love and Die' a new television show from creator Sara Goodman (a writer on bunk FOX show 'Reunion').  The show revolves around a mid-30s ( says 'fun-loving' ... oh Variety!) woman who seemingly can't keep a man in her life, so she seeks out her missing father (Tim Matheson), hoping clearing up the abandonment issues will give her a shot at a non-spinster life.  Turns out her missing father is actually an assassin and what do you know, she might not be that bad at killing fools either.  Sounds like some sort of manic mash-up of 'Alias' and 'The Professional' and 'Felicity'.   Which sounds, er, interesting?

Humorously enough, USA Networks bigwig Jeff Watchel told Variety,

"We made our mark with character-driven dramas with guy leads with 'The Dead Zone,' 'Monk' and 'Psych,' now we would love to have shows with female leads.  That is a big prioritry for us."

I may be mistaken, but didn't USA keep itself afloat for years and years with syndicated reruns of 'La Femme Nikita'?  Because I have many a fond memories of watching 'Macgyver' and 'Quantum Leap' with my parents and then sneaking the channel over to 'La Femme Nikita' once the old folks had gone to bed.
