News > Two ABC Reporters Killed In Iraq

May 18, 2007

With the daily reports of troop casualties continuing to roll in, it's easy to become desensitized to the peripheral impact that the war is having. The Hollywood Reporter has this morning, as ABC revealed that two its Iraqi news correspondents lost their lives while driving home from assignment. Their vehicle was ambushed by unidentified assailants who abducted and later executed Alaa Uldeen Aziz and Laith Yousuf, both of whom had been working for ABC's Baghdad bureau. These two deaths are the latest in a sting of violence targeted at the large population of journalists and reporters that have been diligently documenting and reporting the harsh realities of the steadily devolving sand trap that is the Iraq war. As of yesterday, over 104 journalists and at least 48 media support workers have lost their lives. Please. Please stop.
