News > Tracey Ullman is Getting a New Show

April 13, 2007

Life, it's been said, works in cycles. Sometimes we're at war, which means we will soon be at peace. Sometimes you're miserable, which means you'll soon be well again. And sometimes Tracey Ullman doesn't have a TV show, which means that she'll soon have one again.

That time has come once again, reports.

The show, titled State of the Union, will offer a satirical look at everything about the United States. The show will be a mix of real/scripted interviews, and bits with characters that Ullman creates. It basically sounds like The Tracey Ullman Show with a much more specific vision.

By the way, can we please stop referring to Tracey Ullman, or any female comedian for that matter, as a "comedienne"? It's pointless. There's nothing intrinsically masculine about the word "comedian," and to give females a different word for the same occupation is more than a little silly and demeaning. We don't call female workers "employeis," for God's sake.
