News > Tony Todd Back on "24"
May 26, 2008
Eric Lively (older brother of Blake Lively), Tony Todd ("Candyman"), and Gil Bellows ("The Shawshank Redemption") will appear in the two-hour "prequel" to the seventh season of "24" that will air this fall in an effort to tide fans over until January 2009, when the regular season returns. The writers strike that began last November forced Fox to postpone the seventh season of the popular serial thriller for an entire year.
According to , Jack Bauer will be attempting to thwart an international crisis in Africa as a new president is being inaugurated (presumably not Wayne Palmer or Noah Daniels). Lively will play the president's son, Bellows will play "a State Department officer ordered to serve Bauer with a subpoena to appear before the Senate" (in other words, Dead Square #849), and Tony Todd will play a cruel African dictator named General Juma. Scottish actor Robert Carlyle will also appear.
"24" devotees may or may not recall that Tony Todd has already appeared on the show as another character, Detective Norris in the third season. It was truly a minor role, and I remember thinking that the producers had wasted a talent who was born to appear on "24." So, while this reassignment is a bit awkward, in the end it will likely be worth the minimal continuity trouble.
