TVGuide is saying that a "digitally enhanced" pilot for a new version of The Muppet Show is in the works. What does "digitally enhanced" mean for the puppets? “The show will have the original puppets but they’ll be able to walk around,” says a source close to the project, who also assures us that it will be like the original variety show and not the cartoons. There's something unsettling about Muppets walking around to me. I suppose it's worth a try, but you also don't want to kill the cash cow, screw the pooch, and er, animate the frog.

There is also a rumor that Paul McCartney will join them for the 27-year reunion though the ex-Beatle's publicist denies that Sir Paul is involved in any sort of Muppet project at the current time. More suspiciously, Jim Henson studios has denied that a new pilot is underway. In other words, either this is all very confidential, or everything you and I have just read is completely untrue. That's just how this game works, baby. Get used to it.
