Not to be confused with her father Sidney Poitier, the young star of Death Proof has landed a role in NBC's two-hour TV movie Knight Rider, which the network is hoping to turn into a series. This new incarnation of the classic story of a man and his talking car centers on Mike Tracer (played by Justin Bruening), the son of David Hasselhoff's character Michael Knight. According to Reuters, Poitier will play a "feisty FBI agent who dislikes Mike."

The title Knight Rider doesn't make as much sense if the main character's last name is now Tracer, does it?
