News > Strike's First Victory: The Office

November 7, 2007

Arguably the strike's first victory was that Heroes spinoff, but that probably had more to do with Heroes' dwindling ratings and critical support. But now NBC's The Office has reportedly completely shut down production because Steve Carell will not cross the picket lines to go to work. Some scenes were shot on Monday and Tuesday that did not involve the lead actor, but now production is at a standstill. With Carell, Rainn Wilson, B.J. Novak, Paul Lieberstein, Mindy Kaling, and showrunner Greg Daniels all being WGA, who is shooting scenes without them? John Krasinski? Jenna Fischer? You'd hope the cast would all be united in this.

On the lighter side of this whole strike fiasco, according to officetally.com, Carell called in sick, claiming to be suffering from a case of "enlarged balls."
