Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the latest and last talk show hosts to return to the airwaves as new episodes will begin airing January 7th. Like their peers (Daly, Leno, O'Brien, Letterman, Ferguson, and Kimmel) they will have a very different show in store for audiences. According to , the Comedy Central hosts will be forbidden from using such regular bits as Colbert's "The Word" or Stewart's "Headlines." Both shows rely much more on scripted material (as opposed to interviews) than any of the network late night shows.

Stewart and Colbert (both WGA members) issued a joint statement: "We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence."

They're expected to lean heavily on pre-taped segments from the field, which do not necessarily have to be made by Guild members.
