Jedis, Wookies, Sith and droids are coming to Comcast Digital Cable with ON DEMAND like never before. Beginning this month, all six "Star Wars" films will be available in high-definition (HD) clarity any time customers want to watch them with Cinemax HD On Demand, nine days before the movies air on the Cinemax HD cable channel.
Comcast Digital Cable customers with HD service and a Cinemax subscription will be able to watch every "Star Wars" movie in HD as part of Comcast's signature ON DEMAND video-on-demand (VOD) service, giving them unprecedented control over every moment of the epic. The debut of the films on Cinemax HD On Demand and on the Cinemax HD channel marks the first time the original "Star Wars" trilogy has been presented in HD on television.
"HD lets fans experience movies the way they're meant to be seen, with crystal-clear lifelike detail and stunning sound that makes viewers feel like part of the action, and the 'Star Wars' saga is ideally suited to HD," said Page Thompson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Services for Comcast. "Only Comcast customers can watch the movies in HD any time, in any order, and as often as they want."
Cinemax and Cinemax HD kick off a weekend marathon of all six movies on Friday, November 10 at midnight with Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, concluding on Monday, November 13 with Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The films will air at additional times throughout November, with a schedule of dates and times available at Cinemax.com.
