Hot on the trail of the amazing Pushing Daises, executive producer Barry Sonnenfeld will direct and exec produce the cop drama Buddies for ABC.

The tentatively titled project will be a single-camera comedy set in the world of 1980s police officers according to .  Based on old reruns of COPS aside, the premise sounds promising if Sonnenfeld continues pushing his over-the-top stylings on TV.

Sonnenfeld is also finishing a pilot for nearly every other network as well: Fox has the recently wrapped Hackett, NBC an untitled project, and CBS has medieval drama The Kingdom.
