Hot on the heels of 'Deadwood's' departure from HBO's regular schedule, series regular John Hawkes (Jewish entrepreneur Sol Star) has signed on to another HBO original.  This time, Hawkes will throw on the comedy hat, as he's set to star in the Adam McKay/Will Ferrell produced 'East Bound'.  The story follows a professional baseball player, who retires from the game and returns to his hometown, and the glamorous life of a substitute gym teacher.

Also added to the cast are Katy Mixon (The Quiet) and Andrew Daly ('RENO 911!').

Hawkes is a pretty great actor and I'm happy that HBO continues to have faith in him.  I don't believe I've ever been privy to a fully comedic HBO series, but they can do dark comedy as well as anyone.  With McKay and Ferrell included in this though, I'm at least in for one season.
