News > Serial Dramas Serially Killed

Despite the breakout success of one serial drama, Heroes, the genre took a massive beating this TV season, and as a result, networks are willing to take fewer risks on the genre beginning in the fall season.  No less than six major network dramas were canceled before finishing even one season.  But while this may mean more low-risk crime procedurals, don't expect the networks to back away from serial dramas altogether:  our current pick for breakout hit for next year is CBS' serial zombie-drama Babylon Fields
