The Sci Fi Channel has greenlit a two-hour pilot for Revolution, a futuristic spin on the original American Revolution--but in space. Wait, this sounds familiar.

The show takes place on New America, a newly colonized planet looking to seperate itself from the United State faction. Wait.  Wasn't this the basic plot to Firefly/Serenity?

Originally supposed to go to CBS, the network passed on the idea. Two years later, they found a home at Sci Fi. From :

"It centers on two multigenerational families related by marriage -- a loyalist family and a family that is leaning toward rebellion -- and how the impending revolution impacts their lives," said Redlich, a veteran showrunner.
