Reality TV > Rosie O'Donnell Wanted to "Gay-Up" Price is Right

is saying that Rosie O'Donnell was dismissed by CBS because the producers of The Price is Right feared she would be too controversial. O'Donnell assures us that she would not have been controversial; she just wanted to "gay-it-up."
What did she specifically propose? Apparently she wanted to do away with the Beauties (cardinal sin #367) and replace them with Broadway chorus men, confetti, musical bumpers (what are musical bumpers?), and a "much-needed-makeover." Granted, the studio hasn't quite made it out of the seventies yet, but that's sort of the charm of it. I'm not sure why she, as a gay woman, would want to get rid of the semi-beautiful models that display the prizes, but to each his or her own.
Furthermore, I'm not sure why she doesn't see that as "controversial." Even the smallest of changes to The Price is Right would be controversial. Doesn't she realize how averse to change the elderly people who regularly watch the show are? If Rosie hosted the show with a wireless lavalier mic instead of the tiny one Bob Barker used to have, THAT would get angry mail, probably. Replacing the beauties with Broadway chorus men? Yeah, that would fly with 83 year old Mildred Eckler of Des Moines.
CBS dodged a bullet.
