Reality TV > Rosie In Hot Water Again!

Over the course of 'The View' and all of the shit that went on prior to Rosie getting yanked from it, I've come to despise the former talk show host. Yes, she does a good deal of great things for gay rights in this country, which is admirable, but still at her core she's a bit of an attention-seeking bitch. Nonetheless, the outrage being expressed by her fans about recent pictures of her daughter dressed like a soldier are simply ridiculous. Rosie posted a slide show on her blog of her daughter Vivi dressed like a soldier for some sort costumed fun. In response, her hormonal fans erupted in sappy, tear-soaked comments. A select few for your enjoyment:
"wow Ro that photo of Vivi with the bullets made me cry-it’s scary to think that there are precious little ones really walking around like that in our world “for real”. Come on people! Help our babies"
'RO, I AGREE WITH U ON MOSTLY EVERYTHING. BUT SOMEHOW I FOUND THE PICTURE OF VIVI DISTURBING. I DON’T EVEN LET MY CHILDREN PLAY WITH ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THAT. IT’S JUST A COMMENT. BUT OH WELL!!!!!!'
'WHY DO YOU HAVE THAT PICTURE OF VIVI WEARING BULLETS, I LOVE YOU AND IT REALLY OFFENEDED ME !!!!'
Jesus. F'n. Christ. Are we serious here? This is sickening for so many reasons. First, the fact that Rosie is attempting to use her daughter's silly dress-up routine to make some sort of political statement about child soldiers makes me want vomit all over myself. Second, that there's this many people who give a fucking rats ass what in the hell Rosie O'Donnell's daughter is wearing just reinvigorates my hatred for, well, everyone. But most importantly, what's bothersome is the utter anger aimed at a four year old child wearing a gunbelt. Yes, we live in a world where child soldier's are more and more becoming a normal part of news in third world countries, and that is offensive and disgusting. But on the same tip, she's a four year old girl, maybe she saw some soldiers on television and wanted to dress up like one of them. Maybe she wanted to spend some time imagining what it would be like to run around, shooting guns, and defending innocent people. Or maybe she just wanted to play dress-up. And this is coming from someone who was never even allowed to have GIJoes when he was little. She's a four-year old girl, she doesn't know the political implications of a child with an ammo belt, she just wanted to spend some time with her older brother.
Perhaps we should be looking instead at a mother who thinks using her child as a political statement is a good idea.
