Law & Order: SVU actor and comedian Richard Belzer has signed a two-book deal with Simon and Schuster to write a mystery series featuring the author as himself. According to , the main character of the series, Richard Belzer the actor, will get himself wrapped up in real mysteries. The first novel "I Am Not a Cop" will be published in Fall 2008 and cowritten with Mike Black. "Self-indulgent" seems like a slight understatement.
