Michael Rapaport of the recently defunct The War at Home has joined the cast of My Name is Earl for the show's third season. reveals that Rapaport will play a fellow prisoner of Earl Hickey, who found himself in jail at the end of the last season.

Rapaport has also signed a development deal with 20th Century Fox Television. The studio will develop a project for him that is expected to air during the 2008-2009 season. While Rapaport reportedly has ideas of his own, he'll also be listening to pitches, both comedic and dramatic, from some of 20th's writers. Apparently, the actor had a good experience acting in a pilot called Fugly by Greg Garcia (creator of Earl) and 20th Century Fox, which led to his current involvement with both. Perhaps the best news to report is that The War at Home was canceled and I didn't even realize it. That show was a good reminder of why the three-camera laugh-track family sitcom needs to die. Fast. Faster.
