Say what you will about American Idol, and believe me you can say whatever the hell you want, the show has an amazing ability to command the hearts, minds and affections of the press and viewing public. Stars and hosts are elevated to near Godly levels as the whole country hangs on their every note and expression of biting criticism. The obsession can get a bit much at times, however, with this piece of news being filed under the "I wish I didn't care but I'm still morbidly fascinated" category. Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell's great balancing force, broke her dainty little nose last weekend while trying to avoid stepping on and crushing her dainty little chihuahua. The pint-sized dog, named Tulip (oh God), was laying innocently on the star judge's floor when Paula came thundering down the hallway, leaping into the air to avoid crushing her pocket pet. Abdul missed the dog. Her nose wasn't so lucky, as her snout took the brunt of the subsequent impact. Not even a broken nose, however, is enough to take Idol off the air, so when you tune in this week be sure to make note of Madame Paula's crooked smell-hole.
