David E. Kelley's new drama Life on Mars has found its star in Jason O'Mara, says . He will play Sam Tyler a detective who is somehow transported to the 70s and must track a serial killer who may (or may not?) have a connection to the present-day abduction of his girlfriend (Rachelle Lefevre). Thomas Schlamme, who will direct the first episode, gives this cliched description of the protagonist: "When I read the script, the bad news was that in order for the project to work, we needed an actor who could play confident yet lost, forceful yet frightened, withdrawn yet available, and uncompromising yet funny. The good news is we got Jason O'Mara." This sounds like dialogue out of The Player.

 

Not to mention the show has a plot out of Quantum Leap.

 

Irishman O'Mara's previous credits include Band of Brothers, The Agency, and In Justice.
