NBC and NBC Universal TV Studio are developing 'Split the Difference,' a half-hour comedy that emerged as a fan favorite at the New York TV Festival in September.

Peacock-based producer Meryl Poster -- who acquired the rights to 'Split' after screening it at the fest -- is attached to exec produce. NBC has made a script commitment to the project, which is being further developed for the network.

'Split,' which won both comedy pilot and audience choice awards, is set in the lower Manhattan offices of a fictional advertising firm that creates campaigns for corporate clients. It's the first fest pilot to be acquired by a broadcast net.

'Split' was conceived by Mary Egan Callahan, who runs a commercial casting firm in Gotham. She'll serve as a supervising producer, along with Joe Narciso and Bruce Hurwit. Narciso wrote the pilot, while Hurwit directed.
