News > NBC fields Predator suicide lawsuit

Thank God this has happened (the lawsuit, NOT the suicide). The sister of former U.S. Prosecutor Louis William Conradt has sued NBC to the tune of $105 million. The suit comes as the result of a planned episode of NBC's  Dateline: To Catch a Predator. The show was, as most Dateline episodes are, planned as a surprise expose of Conradt's secret life as a sexual predator. As TVGuide reports, however, things took a horrible turn for the worse. Conradt apparently anticipated the arrival of the crew, shouting "I'm not going to hurt anyone!" as the cameras arrived. He then proceeded to shoot himself. A police officer allegedly turned to a dateline producer following the gunshot and remarked "That'll make good TV." Yikes! Conradt died one hour later. The suit alleges that the policemen who accompanied the camera crew had neither a search nor an arrest warrant. Shaaady. To be perfectly honest, I hope that this lawsuit is successful not only in recovering the money for the affected family, but in removing the Dateline franchise from the airwaves entirely. The show. Must. Go.
