News > MTV Scarred is Looking for Some Gnarly Stories

July 9, 2007

I don't have MTV, and if I did I wouldn't watch it, but at my parent's house recently I stumbled upon a commercial for MTV's 'Scarred' featuring an armless dude, pretty much being made fun of.  I'm as distasteful as they come, but the idea of an entire 12-episode series dedicated to the humiliation of horribly disfigured people is even a tad over-the-top for me.  Seriously, hah hah look at Jim has face got burned off in a fire ... THAT KILLED HIS PARENTS!  Yikes!  Not funny.

Luckily they just released this press release, giving me at least some faith that MTV hasn't sunk that low.

We are looking for 500 skaters and fans of the MTV show Scarred. We are filming a 3-hour Special on July 14th in Chula Vista and you are invited.

MTV - SCARRED LIVE will feature former Scarred participants recreating the stunts that sent them to the hospital, Bucky Lasek will do some tricks, and Brian Deegan will recreate the backflip he crushed himself on Viva La Bam over a shark tank.

Bring your boards and friends.

Here is what we are looking for:

- you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid photo ID.
- Skaters or Fans
- all ethnicities
- females and males

It's just a show about bros who've wounded themselves.  Phew, so much better than some sort of 'Punk'd' rip-off starring parapalegics.
