News > Matt Groening is a Man of Vengeance

May 9, 2007

PR-Inside reports that Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, has issued an official warning that any celebrities who refuse to guest star will be openly ridiculed in future episodes.

Groening evidently gets a little irritated when stars turn down guest spots:

"We were told the investors in Planet Hollywood - Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, whoever - were willing to do the show if we mentioned the restaurant. We wrote a script for them, but it turned out that some publicist made the thing up. We got our vengeance: We slammed Planet Hollywood in the show."

Just goes to show you: hell hath no fury like a powerful writer with a bruised ego and a forum to vent his feelings. Though it's not like he did anything to Planet Hollywood that Planet Hollywood hadn't already done to itself.
