Familiar comic foil Jane Lynch has joined the cast of CBS' untitled comedy project from Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller.

The show is loosely based on Taylor's life. The "Brady Bunch Movie" and "Dodgeball" star will play an actress who has made it in Hollywood and is married to a movie star but still has ties to her hometown, mostly in the form of relatives who are very much involved in her life.

The pilot was written by Ajay Saghal wrote the pilot and will direct along with Taylor's husband, Stiller, who will also direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lynch will play the mother of Taylor's character. Also joining the cast is Fran Krantz ("The TV Set," "The Village") as Taylor's brother and "Lost Comic Standing 4" semi-finalist Modi.

Stiller is expected to recur as a Taylor's movie star husband.

Lynch was most recently seen in the summer hit "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby." The Christopher Guest regular ("A Mighty Wind," "For Your Consideration") is one of TV's busiest guest stars, with recent appearances including "Boston Legal," "Criminal Minds" and the upcoming "Help Me Help You."
