3.2 millions viewers tuned in to Larry King's post-prison interview with Paris Hilton, more than triple his usual audience, says . As Larry King pointed out, Hilton is the "second biggest guest you can get in the world." Osama Bin Laden being the first of course. This was King's highest rated show since 2005, his 53rd highest in the past ten years.
CNN promoted the hell out of this thing. Paula Zahn's show had a ticking countdown clock that led into the interview. Anderson Cooper and his panel dissected and demolished Hilton afterwards, much to Cooper's own dismay. But what can you say? There's clearly a demand for Paris Hilton news, so the networks and cable channels keep giving it. Although one could argue that they made us interested in the first place. Chicken and the egg type thing.
