News > Katie Couric's One Year Anniversary Will Not Be Celebrated by CBS

September 4, 2007

Written by David Morgan

Katie Couric's first year at CBS was lackluster to say the least. According to the LATimes, the already third-place CBS Evening News lost 8% of its viewers and only dropped the average age of viewers from 60.7 years to 59.9. They currently enjoy 1.6 million fewer viewers than Charles Gibson at ABC and Brian Williams at NBC. In an effort to spice up the broadcast (/as punishment for Katie Couric) CBS is sending the reporter to do on-site segments in Iraq and Syria.

Couric's every word and choice of wardrobe was closely scrutinized by the media this past year. It turns out, people who watch the 6:30 PM news just want old-fashioned coverage delivered to them by a man. Who knew?
