News > Jenna Fischer Recovering from Broken Back

May 30, 2007

AOL News reports that Jenna Fischer is doing well after breaking her back during a May 14th office party. The actress, who plays Pam on The Office, fell onto some marble stairs whilst trying (and failing) to dance with a friend.

Fischer's friends have evidently sent her get well notes -- Jon Krasinski (Jim) sent her an email, Rainn Wilson (Dwight) called her room, Angela Kinsey (Angela) stayed with her for 24 hours, Steve Carell (Michael) sent her flowers, and Zach Braff (not on The Office) bought her cupcakes.

It'll be about twelve weeks before Fischer fully recovers, by which time she'll be filming season four of The Office. Since her accident, she's evidently been filling the hours by watching the Larry Sanders show with her husband (Slither writer/director James Gunn), and by writing a country song about pain -- "Now I just have to get someone else to sing it," she said.

Okay, I absolutely hate the Pam character (and, through my undeveloped brain that is unable to separate reality from fiction, I have subsequently begun to loathe Jenna Fischer just a bit), but even I have to admit that this whole story is pretty sad/adorable. It kind of makes me want to send her a teddy bear or something.
