Yep...this one should be filed under the "it's so strange it must be true" pile. Janeane Garofalo, of Saturday Night Live and The Ben Stiller Show fame (among countless other credits) will be joining the Kiefer Sutherland anti-terrorism vehicle 24. Yipes! According to TVGuide:

  1. Come fall, she'll be a regular
  2. Her character is a government agent who is part of the team investigating the crisis befalling Jack Bauer and Co. in the upcoming season
  3. Since the comedienne's persona often brings to mind Mary Lynn Rajskub's prickly Chloe, the potential for on-screen fireworks is greater than it has been during any of the show's previous bomb threats
Whoa...this could change the landscape of 24 rather significantly, with a strong female lead countering Bauer's equally magnetic and somewhat commanding presence. Now I'm off to catch up on last season's shows with the quickness.
