The invasion has ended, but its mastermind is hatching more plans.

Shaun Cassidy, who most recently created the canceled ABC sci-fi drama Invasion, has signed a new deal with Touchstone TV. The two-year deal with a third-year option is in the seven-figure range, according to Variety.

"Shaun has continually engaged our attention through the range and breadth of the shows he has created," Touchstone TV executive vice president Julia Franz said in a statement. "He has a way of taking a common theme and twisting it into something that feels innovative and unique."

Invasion premiered last fall on ABC in the time slot after hit Lost. The story of aliens using storms to infiltrate Florida and attempt to take over the world never earned high enough ratings, despite developing a regular fan base.

Once a teen music hearthrob, Cassidy has created or cocreated the shows American Gothic, Players, Roar, and Cover Me. He has also served as executive producer on the CBS shows The Agency and crime drama Cold Case, and The WB's ski-bum drama The Mountain.
