News > Hollywood Loves Dirty Cops

April 18, 2007

In one of the most surprising instances of overexposure seen in the last two days, reported that Dick Wolf and NBC Universal are planning a TV series around the exploits of two real life dirty cops.

Stephen Caracappa and Louis Eppolito served as NYPD officers for several years, until a Lucchese underboss revealed them to be paid members of the mob. Caracappa and Eppolito were literally moles within the NYPD, and frequently carried out hits for the mob whilst still under NYPD employ.

And what better subject for a TV series than that? Literally three movies are already in the works about these two cops, and, on top of that, they'll get a TV show based on their lives. If it's that easy to get your own TV show these days, sign me up for the mob ASAP.
