This season, Grey's Anatomy isn't confining the drama to the TV screen.

Last week, Grey's actor T.R. Knight came out of the closet and told People magazine he was gay. Knight intimated that rumors were swirling anyway, so he wanted to be in control of how people found out about his sexualty.

In a statement, Knight said, "I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

Now it looks as if an on-set scuffle between Grey's leads Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington may have been partially triggered by Knight's homosexuality. The altercation between Dempsey and Washington occured in early October, when Washington lunged at Dempsey and grabbed him by the throat after Dempsey reportedly stuck up for one of his costars.

The National Enquirer reports that as Washington grabbed Dempsey, he yelled, "I'm not your little faggot like T.R. Knight."

Washington has a history of questionable on-set incidents. On the set of 2002's Soul Food, he aggressively kissed a costar during a scene, and when she reacted irately he reportedly screamed at her and the film's crew. In 1997 Washington lost a guest-star role on the series High Incident after he got into fisticuffs with a crew member, according to TMZ.com.
