News > Grey's Anatomy Spinoff Isn't Perfect

May 15, 2007

TV Guide reports that ABC head honchos are pleased as punch to include the Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice on their upcoming schedule, but they admit that -- in its current state -- it sort of blows.

Well, not blows, but it need serious work. The May 3rd episode was "not really a pilot, but a hybrid kind of introduction," says ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson. "We spent a lot of time introducing the characters and not enough time on the stories. We've really got to hit the stories stronger."

One has to wonder why he didn't come to this conclusion before the pilot, but you've gotta give the guy credit for admitting fault instead of spouting the typically biased PR crap that insinuates nothing is ever wrong with the show, and that anyone who says so is a Nazi.

The show will still keep its distinctly un-Grey's tone, which -- I guess -- means no angry homophobes. Darn: that was the best part of the show!
