News > GOP CNN-Youtube Debate: Back On

August 14, 2007

Written by David Morgan

Despite early skepticism of the format by such candidates as Mitt Romney, the Republican CNN-Youtube debates will indeed go forward. The NYTimes reports that the debate will take place on November 28th. It will be broadcast on CNN and feature questions from everyday Americans in the form of videos submitted to Youtube. Romney was quoted as calling the format demeaning upon seeing animated snowmen ask the Democrats questions, and his campaign has still not replied to CNN. But the big two, Giuliani and McCain are confirmed to be there. Fred Thompson is still considering it. If he or Romney want to stand a chance in the election process they'd better really think about showing up. They can't be afraid of new formats and more importantly America's questions.
