News > Gilmore Girls No More?

I've never understood the love of "The Gilmore Girls." Sure, the dialogue is quick and witty, and the show does have a sort of inane charm to it, but something about it has always irked me. I'd heard rumors this year that with the departure of showrunner Amy Sherman that it had taken a steep decline in quality, and that many fans just weren't as happy with the new, melodramatic storylines.
Now it seems, the show might be fighting for it's life as Alexis Bleidel, Rory on the show, has been rumored to not want anything to do with an eighth season. The show could feasibly continue without the presence of Bleidel, but Kristin Veitch over at E! News is reporting that her sources are saying that Lauren Graham wants nothing to do with The Gilmore Girls if Bleidel isn't involved. Both Bleidel and Graham have already started building careers outside of the show, and seven seasons is a respectable number for a good show, so a cut off before eight seems quite possible.
On the flip side of the coin fans of the show are fairly rabid and the CW Network is both denying the Bleidel rumors and claiming they'll do "whatever it takes" to keep the show running. I guess it'll be time that'll tell what fate lies for the inhabitants of Stars Hollow. I for one couldn't give less of a damn.
