News > Gay-bashing "Grey's Anatomy" star to do anti-defimation PSAs

May 3, 2007

"Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington continues on his "making good" parade after calling his gay co-star a "faggot." Most recently he withdrew himself from the Emmy competition and now TV Guide is reporting he's taping a Public Service Announcement for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network.

There will be two versions of the ad, according to Washington's publicist Howard Bragman.

It's weird everyone keeps insisting he's not fired from the show. His slur against his co-worker was, by most accounts, far harsher than Don Imus' comment, which was directed at strangers. So why is Washington still in a job? Where are the "fire Isiah" rallies? I guess prejudice against gays and lesbians is more tolerable than prejudice against blacks. You learn something every day.
