News > Freeman to Host AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies Special

reports that Morgan Freeman has signed on to host the next installment of AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies series.

Irritatingly enough, the next special won't be on a new subject (previous specials included 100 heroes and villains, 100 songs, 100 comedies, etc), but will rather be a sequel to the original 100 Years...100 Movies, which simply ranks the 100 greatest films of all time. The only difference in this particular special will be the inclusion of some newly-eligible films, such as Titanic, American Beauty, and Lord of the Rings

The situation is lose-lose: either the newly-eligible films totally change the roster and the list becomes fluid and meaningless with each passing year, or the films change barely anything and the show essentially feels like a repeat of the original 100 Years...100 Movies special. I'll probably end up watching it anyway, if only because I'm a sucker for those shows, but I will do so begrudgingly.
