"Justice" has been served its walking papers, while "What About Brian" has been given a full-season pickup.
Fox has yanked the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Justice" from its lineup, effective immediately. Warner Bros. TV will finish out production on the skein's 13th episode, but industry insiders said the show has been effectively canceled.
A Fox rep declined to use that word, however. "It's been pulled from the schedule," the rep said.
"Justice" failed to find an audience in two different timeslots. It began the season Wednesdays at 9, then replaced "Vanished" Mondays at 9 a few weeks ago.
Repeats of "House" will fill the 9 p.m. Monday timeslot for the next two weeks, with "24" slated to air in the slot starting in mid-January. Remaining episodes of "Justice" could resurface once the November sweeps are over.
While Bruckheimer has one of the best track records in TV, he's had no luck at Fox. His last skein for the net, "Skin," failed to make it to a second season.
So far this season, Fox has pulled "Happy Hour" and quizzer "The Rich List," and has all but killed "Vanished," which has been banished to Fridays. Still awaiting word: "Standoff" and "Til Death."
Separately, after mulling a plan to move "The OC" to Wednesday nights, Fox has decided to keep the show on Thursdays. Skein saw a ratings uptick in key demos last week.
As for "Brian," ABC has ordered another nine episodes of the J.J. Abrams-produced hour. Skein has been an underdog in the 10 p.m. Monday timeslot, with ABC impressed at how well the show has held onto its "Bachelor" lead-in.
So far this season "Brian" has averaged a 3.0 rating/8 share among adults 18-49, keeping 94% of its lead-in. Skein is particularly strong in the Alphabet's target demo of women 18-34.
"Brian," from Touchstone Television, bowed last spring. Alphabet now has given full-season orders to "Ugly Betty," "Brothers & Sisters" and "Men In Trees."
Verdict is still out on "Six Degrees" and "The Nine."
