"Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi is developing "House of Horrors" for The CW, reports Variety.

Raimi and partner Rob Tapert are developing a hybrid horror/reality series for the new network. CW executives believe that, once greenlit, the show could be on the air as early as next summer.

The idea for "Horrors" came from Gunnar Witterberg ("Treasure Hunters"), who will serve as co-executive producer of the project. Raimi and Rapert will executive produce, while William Hamm is also onboard as co-executive producer.

The basic premise of "Horrors" has competitors trying to stay "alive" in a mysterious house in which they must face their darkest fears. One by one, players are "killed off" via elaborately staged "deaths" that will mix elements of the reality and horror genres.
