Comic actor Eddie Griffin is teaming up with feature producer John Davis (Eragon) for a family comedy project set up at NBC, reports Variety.

Griffin will produce and star in the half-hour, based on the actor's own experience as a father of multiple children with different women.

Davis -- whose credits include Doctor Doolittle and Daddy Day Care -- is executive producing the NBC Universal Television Studio project, with Dan Spilo and Dallas Jackson also on board as producers.

"Eddie calls it the 'f**ked-up "Cosby Show,"'" Spilo said.

Davis and Griffin first hooked up during Norbit, the upcoming Davis-produced feature starring Griffin and Eddie Murphy. At the same time they started talking about the film, Griffin and Davis began to discuss TV ideas.
