Sweep that jaw up off the floor, young man. You know full well that advertisers are the real puppet masters of the television industry. Anyone who thinks that a 30 minute show is anything more than a creative way to waste time in between commercial slots is sorely mistaken. In a "case in point" example of networks pandering shamelessly to their sugar daddies, TVGuide is reporting that CBS has admitted to cutting Craig Ferguson's opening monologue short in the in the interest of providing a longer initial commercial break. The general idea is that, it being the Late Late Show and all, more people are likely to be awake in the early minutes of the show, making it more valuable as an advertising forum. Logical? Yes. Disgusting? Yes. The sad way of the sad world? Unfortunately...yes.
