Comedy Central has ordered pilots featuring such actors and comedians as David Alan Grier (in a Chappelle Show type format, perhaps trying to recreate something that they simply can't), Michael Ian Black, Lewis Black, Larry the Cable Guy, and T. Sean Shannon (former writer of SNL).

"It's all about the balance," said programming boss Lauren Corrao. "You don't want to have complete unknowns on your slate. But going for the tried-and-true doesn't always mean it will be successful either."

Lewis Black's show actually sounds like it could be rather interesting, but also tiring after just a few episodes:

"Root of All Evil," a courtroom show in which comedians argue that their client is the root of all evil. The show would pit Paris Hilton against Dick Cheney, or chick flicks against video games. Lewis Back is the judge.

My favorite title has to be: "Michael Ian Black Doesn't Understand," a sketch show hosted by the comic that focuses on one "hot-button" topic each week with field and studio pieces.

But I shall not watch anything by Larry the Cable Guy. No dice, Comedy Central. No. Dice.
