CBS is redeveloping the legal drama pilot "Law Dogs," from Ridley and Tony Scott and Barry Schindel.
"Law Dogs" was originally conceived for NBC in 2003, but didn't make the network cut. CBS has now given a pilot order to a revised and currently untitled version of that project to be produced by Scott Free Prods. and CBS Paramount Network TV.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Law Dogs" was shelved in 2003 after "EDNY," another Universal TV pilot, secured William Baldwin as its lead, lifting its cast contingency.
Hopefully Billy Baldwin won't have the opportunity to sabotage the show this time.
The pilot looks at a group of public defenders, their cases and their relationships. You can be sure it was re-pitched as "'Grey's Anatomy' only with public defenders."
Schindel is currently executive producer and showrunner on CBS' "Numbers," also a Scott Free production.
