Andy Richter is trading in his wife. At least, his onscreen character is.

Amy Farrington, who was slated to play the wife in Richter's NBC midseason replacement series Andy Barker, PI, has been auf'd (to use the parlance of Project Runway). In her place will step Clea Lewis, seen in the sitcoms Ellen and Maggie Winters. No reason for the change was given.

In Barker, Richter plays an accountant who rents the office of a former detective. Since people keep assuming he is a detective, becoming one is the path of least resistance. The show is executive-produced by Conan O'Brien and costars Arrested Development's Tony Hale.

This will be Richter's third foray into series comedy. 2002's Andy Richter Controls the Universe was a cult favorite midseason replacement series that ran for three months on Fox. 2004's Quintuplets was a short-lived family comedy about raising 15-year-old quintuplets, also on Fox.
