News > Cancellations: The Nine, Knights of Prosperity, John From Cincinnati

is reporting that ABC has finally axed their two low-rated well-reviewed shows The Nine and Knights of Prosperity. This was the "second life" of both shows, but after two low-rated weeks for Nine and one for Knights, they've been shown the door. The Nine will be replaced by NASCAR in Primetime while Knights will be replaced by According to Jim. I'll admit I didn't watch either show, but it still feels like something's gone terribly wrong at ABC.

On the other hand, the poorly received, unwatched John from Cincinnati is being canned by HBO, says CNN. David Milch (NYPD Blue, Deadwood) and Kem Nunn's "surf noir" show was considered "unlikable" and "weird" by critics. Sounds like the making of a cult classic. Also at HBO, the fate of comedy show Flight of the Conchords is still being decided. Tubewad devotees may recall that I wrote an article reviewing the first episode some months ago. I have to say, while I still feel my concerns about the pilot were valid, I'm completely hooked on the show now. There are still some kinks to work out, but if given a second season I think FOTC could be fantastic. So check it out, either on HBO or on Youtube (every episode is posted there in its entirety).
