News > BET Launches 16 New Shows...With what money?

April 19, 2007

Will Smith, Vin Diesel, D.L. Hughey and Orlando Jones are among the creatives behind the 16 new shows debuting on BET. This is the biggest network order in the history of the channel. Hell, this is probably bigger than most networks' lineups. How the hell are they paying for this?

The indie flick "Somebodies" is being turned into a sitcom for the channel. Orlando Jones' cartoon "Bufu" (doesn't that mean...well...butt fucker?) will appear on the lineup as well. Vin Diesel's historical drama "Hannibal" and Will Smith's science fiction (what else?) hip hop series "Cipha" round out the schedule.

Some of these shows actually sound pretty good...sounds expensive, but...good. I'm kind of shocked. But cool.
