News > An Office Movie?

July 6, 2007

RTE Entertainment reports that BBC (and not Ricky Gervais, necessarily) is looking into the possibility of making a big-screen version of the original, British series of The Office, along with subsequent film deals for Little Britain and Ricky Gervais's other show, Extras

The head of BBC's comedy department stated, "Many of the comedy talents we work with ultimately want to paint on a bigger canvas, and this relationship with BBC Films means that we can now offer them that opportunity."

However, I'm not sure this would necessarily be Gervais's cup of tea: he intentionally ended Extras after only two series, and the finale to The Office seemed to wrap up pretty much everything. What good would a movie do?
